Need help on notebook choice

So one of my professors handed down some extra credit today: submit a proposal to help her department choose new notebooks for the wireless lab. This is where I need you guys..

I need to come up with three notebooks that would meet the criteria laid out by the department. I figure since you guys all know notebooks pretty well, you'd be a good source to ask about this. Here's the criteria:

• Durability (hardware): to sustain heavy daily use and movement from cabinet to tables and back again; strong screen/base hinge

• Dependability (software): to minimize the number and frequency of repairs over the long run

• Rechargeable batteries: to be quick-charging and to hold a charge for several hours (preferably all day, if possible)

Weight is not a factor to consider. Screen size is important but not a crucial decision-maker.

So, if you wouldn't mind, I need you to tell me the best three notebooks you think best fit these categories and explain why. I hope to hear from you all!

All I can say is Lenovo/IBM, they have the best business/productivity notebooks around

What school do you go to? Most colleges have some sort of deal worked out w/ say Dell or Hp to get a discount. I would say get Dell D620's or even cheaper D520's (Business models, Latitude series). What are the notebooks going to be used for? I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a "battery charging station".

I go to Oregon State.. We have a service contract with both Dell and Gateway but I was told that's not terribly important. Our computer sciences school is very, very good and most of our maintenance is done with students, I believe.

What will the notebooks be used for? I still say Latitude D520, D620 and if your school wants to shell out the cash then Lenovo T60's. If it were my choice on which notebook to buy for acedemic purposed I would choose the D520.

It's a wireless writing lab, so they'll be used primarily as word processors, but there will be a little web surfing, too. No video editing or high-end graphic processing, though.

Ok then you need some "lower end" D520's but since you need 3 notebooks I would say 1. D520 2. 131L 3. D620 all Latitudes

*I am not a dell fan-boy but IMO these are the best choices since they are inexpensive and your school already has a deal w/ dell.
