ATTN: All Dell 6400/e1505 owners!!!

Thread Starter
ViriiGuy found a dangerous voltage problem coming from his E1705/9400 which may be the same on the E1505/6400 series laptops. I suggest those that have a multimeter handy to test it out themselves so ViriiGuy can get more statistics on the problem.

Look at the thread here:

Just thought I'd inform people who don't look at the 17" section much.

Thank you doggyworld,

Yes we have found a problem that seems to be prevelant on these notebooks. This problem has also been found on a 6400 as well. Since these two laptops share the same power adapter, it is likely that the lack of a grounded adapter is the problem. Please go to the above mentioned thread and check the instructions for how to test for this. Then post your results on there.

Thank you,
Randy

It appears this problem has been solved. These laptops were designed to come WITH a grounded adapter, but Dell neglected to ship them with one. Get Dell to send you a grounded adapter (3 pronged) and you will no longer have AC Voltage leaking from the bottom of the laptop.

Called Dell and asked for the 3-prong AC adapter and they told me that they only had the 2-prong adaptor. What the heck should I do? Has anyone else gotten the 3-prong adaptor from Dell? If so how?

Any idea if this problem would have any effect on the battery? particularly it's rate of wear increase? I've already had to replace one battery because of the battery wearing too fast and the replacement is going just about as fast despite them being from different manufacturers (and yes its under sparing use of the battery).
