Hard Drive 100GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
Combo or DVD+RW Drive 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability

Or should I stick with what I got for now

Inspiron 9300
2gig ram
60gig 7200rpm IDE
WXGA+ (no true life)
7800gtx
1.6pinmod 2.13

And if I sold my 9300, how much would I get out of it?

Im just worried my games will be slower with the video cards.

Your current system is pretty comparable I dont see a reason as to why youd want to upgrade to a mid range e1705 when your system can currently push similar speeds. Id hold out for the next gen system with geforce8x00 cards if your going to make the jump since I can tell you invested in quite a bit into your still top of the line 9300!

I'd hold off.

What you have now is good. You're not getting your money's worth out of that upgrade, I'd hold off for Santa Rosa, DX10, etc.

I had the same system as you basically (I had 1.8 p/m to 2.4). I got my current system (in my sig) primarily because I only got the basic 1 year warranty. I priced out how much it would be to extend my warranty (more than a few hundred dollars) and to compare I priced out a new system. There was a 30% epp coupon plus another $50 off and a MIR on the warranty through EPP, plus the %12 EPP discount, I ended up getting my 1705 for $158x.xx in late October. Parted out my 7800 GTX, and sold my 9300, for a total of $1450. For me that made sense. I got a 3 year warranty, a decent proccessor upgrade, and overclocked I get better scores off the 7900 GS, for $130 and change.

Your 1705 is going to be a good deal more than mine was. Also you have new models being (likely) just around the corner. I agree with the above posters, if you get this now you'll be wasting your money. The price won't be worth the upgrade. Hold on to that money and wait for the next gen of laptops to come out.

Ditto.
Your 9300 has pretty beefy stuff in it still...
Assuming you've overclocked the 7800 GTX, you'd score around 7500 points in 3dmark2005...
A non-overvolted OC'ed 7900GS scores around 8000 ... so really, even if you were to overvolt the 7900GS to obtain better scores...you're looking at a small to modest improvement in graphical capability in comparison to the amount of money you'd have to pay for a new system.

Like the above posters, DX10 and santa-rosa are going to be major performance jumps from the current stuff that's in the E1705, so I'd wait for the new inspiron revisions come Q3 of this year.

Thanks for the Help. Im going to keep my 9300.

I may just try and find a 1920x1200 true life Lcd on Ebay. And sell my wxga+. And kick up to an 100gig 7200rpm.

Ya your setup is pretty sweet, I'd keep it till it doesnt work no more
Its better than some desktops designed for gaming, and yet its portable!
Sweet lapper.
