Thats good news. I have installed Vista on my HP DV5000 and for the most part everything worked well. I ensured that I had the latest firmware from HP for my machine. Only a few drivers were missing mostly for my card reader of which HP have a driver for Vista and a few other drivers of which again I was able to resolve by getting the latest update drivers from HP. In all it was a smooth setup for me and Vista is working really well.

I do know that some people including myself had a issue with the setup and install of Vista crashing a short way into the install. This was due to the SATA being enabled in the BIOS for he hard drive. Disabling this worked, and then simply re-enabling it after Vista was installed fixed the problem, although this issue has also now been resolved with the latest BIOS update.

What I am most interested in is how does it perform on the 64 bit version of the software?

Couple of updates,

Growing tired of the grfx corruption coming out of screen blanking, I allowed vista to install old nv griver from november for the 7600, so far it works great. ltv2g has 2 new releases over the 100.59 I was using, one being whql certified, but as I dont need any of the game specific issues they seem to be targeting Ill stick w/ what I got untill Windows Update pushes out a new version.

As far as Vista 64 vs 32 bit, On my desktop, upgradeing to XP64 bit and a raptor showed noticeable speed increase over XP32. Although I have not put Vista 32 on the laptop, only 64 I did tool around alot w/ 32 bit on my desktop, which had lower specs except hdd speed, and I havnt seen a noticeable spped up using 64 bit. If I did an apples to apples side by side I might see something, but as of right now my experiences hasnt shown anything special.

Vista update or ltv2g will take care of your grfx driver, contact HP web chat and they have a card reader driver if it hasnt been posted to the web site yet.
