When I type now, certain letters type NUMBERS instead. how do i fix this?

I have a Gateway notebook and when I type certain letters NUMBERS come up instead. Is this broke or did I hit somethiong to have this happen?

I had this same problem with my old 7405GX when I installed Windows 2000 Pro
to FIX this problem with the keyboard, I had to unplug the keyboard, that means opening up your notebook, (like your gonna repalce the keyboard, but, you only have to disconnect it form the motherboard and then re insert it again) that FIXED my problem, what model number do you have? I can send you a service giude on eMachines M68(XX)/ Gateway 74(XX)GX, MX75(XX) and MX64(XX) thur MX69(XX) if you like?
