I did the following steps. I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate. After that was done. I used Acronis and image my drive to one of 500 gig external hard drive. I then removed Dell Ghost partition, Since I will not be returning to Winows Xp.

I then downloaded the repair fie that has a Dos batch file in it. I ran the file off the ISO dvd disc that I made
,as per instrctions. I rebooted... BUT I got an error. All I had to do was place the Vista DVD in the DVD drive .. and follow the screen... when I got to te screen that vista ask me if I wanted to repair the MBR. I click yes.

Once that was done ,I install Dell Mediadirect version 3.0 with in Windows. I check the configuration .

Took a deep brealth & test out my M1710.
It worked like a charm
