nVIDIA nTune Problems in Vista

Vista won't let me run nVIDIA nTune to overclock my GPU because it says that I don't have Administrator privileges. No UAC screen comes up asking me for permission or anything. Anyone else having this problem?

Nevermind, I got it. Problem now is that it just brings up the control panel with a blank screen. As if there is no option to overclock.

Oh how I HATE nVIDIAs new control panel.

Ok nTune is working now, but I can't overclock. No matter how much I change the clockspeed, I get a BSOD. Anyone else having this problem?

Which drivers you using? It worked for me with 97.46 from Dell but will not work with the modified 100.59 drivers...Also, does anyone know how to get the nTune settings to stick on a reboot for video clock and memory speed?

Thanks,

How did you got it to work? I've the exact same problem, it says I've no privileges to run several Ntune applications.
Please answer ASAP.

Ntune is Vista doesn't work for me either. I just use ATITool.

ATITool here as well. I actually like it better.

To get nTune to work in vista theres a couple of things you have to do. I'm running it in 64 vista, i haven't tried OCing yet but I'm assuming it will work. First you'll need to flash your vid card bios with juanlu's bios which lets the clocks stick. Secondly you need to turn off UAC and restart. I had forgotten to restart and it wouldn't let me access it. Third, you need to download the Microsoft visual c++ redistributable from the microsoft website for 64bit systems, make sure you get the right one, then you will be able to see things in the control panel. Hope this works

I had no problem being able to see things in the control panel with Ntune. It's when you try and apply the adjusted clocks that a problem arises. It wants to test these clocks and you just get 'test failed'. Now some people say they only have problems with 100 series drivers. I have tried 90 and 100 series drivers and still have the same problem. With the 90's drivers I would get a black screen and BSOD and had to reboot.

So stuckinasquare3, try and set the clocks and see if u get the same error.

Either way ATITool is great anyways and can be set to start, set the clock, and then exit when you enter into windows.

Went into nTune, changed setting to Overclock, didn't move any sliders, hit test and it passed....then moved core up to like 507 hit test and it passsed, but im not OCing just yet so I went back to defaults. I'm using DEFAULT vista drivers and i have flashed my bios with juanlu's bios...make sure u do that!

Based on what I've read and tried, OC'ing will not work using 100.x or 101.x drivers to date (101.41).

Dell 98.09 drivers dropped my 3DMark05 scores by 1400 and OC'ing gave me back 300. I would rather run non-OC'd and get a score of 9400 then run Dell drivers OC'd getting a score of 8300. I don't recall what the 97.46 drivers did for me but I had other issues with them (BD related I think).

ah you're right, its the 100+ drivers that make OCing not work. O well, I didn't wanna OC anyway, I just wanna get my games to play smoothly.

I use Xtreme-G Mobile Force 101.70 M6 Windows Vista Driver, and OC with ATITool 0.27b1. I can't go high as I used to with XP, but it's something.

My clock speed is 595/745, and getting little over 9k on 3d 05. Give a ATITool try, it's pretty good (I ended up using it after I couldn't come up w/ OC solution from Nvidia) Just make sure you change settings to load saved OC values at start up.
