Here are some pics from the Lan Party I wnet to last night there will be more up on tha www.lanchampion.com web site. But these are jsut a few I took. This was a small Lan pary there was bout 25 of us and it was Named Lanchampion 2.5 because we did not get any sposors excpet for BAWLS and it only lasted 12hrs instead of teh usualy 30hrs for the big lanparty. It was fun It started at 8 p.m last night and went through 8 a.m. this morning. here are some pics. One is of a highly devolped gaming technique called sleep gamming this is where one is so good that they can game in thier sleep! Highly undocumented technique. With all the great games that came out this week we felt a earlier lan party was in order to work the kinks out of Unreal 2k4 and Battlefield Vietnam and work we did.

OMG! Was that an.... (Dum Dum Dum!) Hp?!?! Satan!
You were the ONLY guy there with a laptop, right? Hope you whooped everybody in benchmarks!
EDIT: Holy ****e! There's even a Dell! What kind of Lan Party is that anyway?!? I know I've got a dell... but I would never bring it to a lan party. Well... mostly since there are none in my non-geeky community anyways...

Dells are ok, just not for gaming. I would never bring a dell to a lan either. Me and my cousin are going to a lan party the week i get my lappie. He's bringing his new ATI pc (well, he said thats who he got it from) and i will be leaving everyone behind with my new alien!

LAN party I'm at right now (450 people): http://lan.etsmtl.ca/gallery/album18/DSCF0244

The shot is a bit out of date, since it was from yesterday night which was a scrim-night that only some people showed up for. So it's a lot more packed than you see in that photo.

Above and beyond that, I believe there is about 3x more space than is shown in that photo. And that place is jam packed now.

Hey that fat kid is a verry good freind of mine bu yhea he is fat! We call him big mark don't mess wit him though me may look big and slow but he can frag with the best of them! WE played CoD alot along with Battlefield 1942 along with desert combat. We also gave Unreal 2004 and Battlefeild Vietnam a Test drive for teh real party comming up in May this was jsut a little get together 12hr test run of the real deal in may we only had Bawls to sponsore this one and they sent us a few cases! I took home a 12 pack myself and I still have a few in the fridge. They are better an coffee in the moring! The good thing about bawls even whe it goes flat its still good! Taste like fuity sprite. Next party wil be May 22 and 23 and that will be a full 30hr deal! those are the best our last 30hr party was cut short by snow! I love our little lan parties they are held at a local community center and we usually get about 20 to 30 gouys each time we are trying to build it up to get at least 100 but so far so good its still a lot of fun!

Brain,
I've noticed in all of the pictures that you don't have a cooler setup, but I remember in the past that you said you were looking at the Vantec. Do you use a cooler during these 30+ hour stints (or anyother time for that matter), or does it seem to be fine in that timeframe without one? It really surprised me not to see one.

i disagree... i threw an ati 9600xt in my dell and it games like a champ now.

specs:
p4 1.8, 1GB ram, 40gb 5400 rpm hdd, xp pro(tweaked out)

its not my 51m but plays everything extremely well.

The guy sitting beside me (his name is mark Aka. Big Mark!) His Pc is a Dell or at least it used to be after he masaccared the case and transplanted it into a new one he hated the scisor design of teh old case I though it was pretty cool. anyway it scored just a little below my laptop and its 2years old. Unforutnalty he is still paying dell for it.

i have a dimension 4400, its about 2 years old as well, i added 512mb of ram to bring it to a gig and threw in the ati card.

it is really a great machine and i paid about 850$ for it which was an excellent deal at the time(cd burner, dvd player 17" monitor 512 ram, 1.8ghz)

not nearly as god as some of the prices dell has now but at the time it was a steal.

anyhow, it runs games extremely well, i have never done a benchmark, and wouldnt even know how to tell you the truth, but from what i see and experience it isnt far off of the alienware, all things considered.

i guess when it all boils down a gig of Ram and an 9600xt are a great combo, regardless of the iother hardware

Apparently it's something to do with the TV show Ravanche des NerdZ that was there

I wouldn't know, I only watch m.Net on MusiquePlus (French version of MuchMusic, which is canadian version of MTV)

I have played at LAN's too, where I thought I would need a cooler, but to my surprise my first one was 12hrs and I never had an overheat or crash...these laptops are super sweet..

Mine handles a 6 hour stint of EQ at least once a week too with no probs

Ever

Thanks Guys.

I had asked this because I was thinking about getting an antec because it is light. But hearing that is not a big issue. I may opt to make my own for my desk at home. I would prefer to do my own, because I wouldn't mind having the laptop raised up 1-3 inches mainly for viewing the screen.

Since I play most of the games at home anyways, I can pick up some quiet Desktop sized cooling fans and make my own for cheaper. Plus it will probably work a heck of alot better.
