Bluescreen when installing Vista (Inspiron 6400)

Hi
I was trying to upgrade my system to vista rtm using a iso file from my harddrive. It worked fine until the third reboot. A bluescreen appeared and my laptop restarted immediately. It disappeared so quickly that I can't even see what errors it showed.
I tried several times but can't get around it, can anyone help me?

the "Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure" in the F8 menu should still be there from XP SP2, that'll keep it from restarting on bluescreen

actually, i didn't figure out why that happened but i ended up by fresh installing vista on a new partition and it works well.
