Dual booting w/ Xp and Vista on same HD

Thread Starter
I hear you can choose either Xp or Vista to boot into. However you need the real vista not the dell upgrade. How do you guyd think this would work. Do you think it would be hours of painstaking installing and troubleshooting??? Im skeptical on dual booting right now because Vista is so new it might not be worth dual booting until they release some updates for Vista to clear some the compability issues............let me know your thoughts thanks

It works great on the same harddrive and every reboot you can chose either xp or vista.

I couldnt get it to work on a second internal drive and so just use the second drive for data

So far there has been no negatives with vista other than gettin used to where things are. I can see me dumping XP entirely soon. Very happy.

So can you Dual Boot vista and xp without having to partition the hard drive?
no, you need to partition the drive...

If you install XP onto a machine with Vista already installed, Vistas boot files will be overwritten. To fix this, just install and run VistaBootPro (its free). It scans for OS installs, and adds a boot menu option for each OS....simple!

If you install Vista onto a machine with XP on it, you dont have to do anything, Vista will add the boot menu.
