Today I purchased two Vista notebook computers and have already set up the $500 one (a Compaq, Home Basic vista) but now my Acer 5610-2273 is "frozen" in Vista Premium (Home). I have installed and updated Microsoft Office 2003 in addition to Firefox, Flock, Evernote, Adobe reader 8, Maxthon, Quicktime (failed part way) and the standard stuff that the Acer brings along with it.
I am familiar with XP and Windows 2000 and in those worlds would just hold down POWER for about ten seconds after which I would be able again to power on the system and resume.
When I asked for "Task Manager" it never got that far and neither have I been able to get back to desktop.
The disk drive activity light does flash but seems mostly quiet. Has this happened to someone else? How long should I wait (for it to clear itself)? These are the first two computers (both brand new) that I have had using Vista home.
