Can anyone help me out on which one I should choose? Its mostly for school use, internet surfing, and traveling.

For portability the Macbook for sure. It is not even close to compare the two.

I am having the same debate right now. I will stay away from the mac book, because networking and being able to share data and play a few older games will keep me with the pc's since all my friends use them.

Not sure if that helps you at all.

I would go with the Dell XPS because Apple I have had a ton of problems with....but thats just me.

I ordered the dell. I hope they have made dell notebooks sturdier since the 600 series a few years ago. the touch pad felt really fragile back in the day.
