8104 BIOS beep codes

Thread Starter
Hi, my 8104 sometimes refuses to boot and gives beep code that sounds like "long - short - short"
i've searched lots of websites for explanations of what the beep codes mean but they only give explanations for codes consisting of four numbers. I hear beeps, not numbers. And there are 3 of them, not four.
POST screen says BIOS is made by Phoenix (when it boots)

What does this code mean?

what should I do about it?

thanks

Prolly one of your ram sticks is bad, since it sometimes will boot. I dont know how easy or hard it is to access both sticks to be able to pull one and see how the boot sequence goes- then the other.

My brand-new 5100 did that. A call to Acer support informed be that that was apparently a problem with the BIOS CMOS parity, so he suggested I send them the laptop so they could open it and reset the BIOS. That was gonna take weeks. And guess what? I turned it off and on, took out the battery, waved a magic wand and made a prayer (couldn't find a virgin to sacrifice) and the problem went away by itself! It was strange because after the beeps, I could seefrom the disk io light that the machine seemed to be booting normally, albeit there was no display.

Interesting. I'm not clear on which battery did you remove? The CMOS, or the Li-Ion?
