Mass Storage Controller Driver W4605

I recently had to do a full system restore. I lost my recovery partition that had all the drivers (they are not on the restore disk). I have found all but the Mass Storage Controller. Does anyone know where i can find this? I am having problems with computer hard drive corrupting critical system files, which is why i did a full restore. I am hoping once i can locate and install this driver it will cure my problem.

Thanks!

Thanks, but I have tried that already. I am starting to believe that the hard drive has gone bad. Ran a DOS scan on it and found way too many bad sectors. Does anyone know if a hard drive goes bad if it will cause Mass Storage Controller to show up in "device manager/unknown devices" with the yellow circle and exclamation mark?

Thanks!

The harddrive has nothing to do with the Mass Storage Controller that you are referring to. The MSC that your computer is referring to is the SD memory stick slot on the left side of the machine, just beneath the PCMCIA slot. I too am looking for the driver and the chipset driver was unable to fix it. I will post something if/when I find a driver to make the SD card slot work.

Ok, Mass Storage Controller on the W4605 is referring to the SD slot like I posted above. It is a Texas Instruments PCIxx21 Integrated FlashMedia Controller. It's driver can be found on Emachines.com, go to support, select Notebook, select W-series, select model W4620 (yes, I know this is not the W4605 model we're in discussion with here). Under the W4620 drivers, you will find everything you need for the W4605. The Mass Storage Controller driver you are looking for is called Media Card Reader driver on the Emachines driver page.

I updated the driver from the Device Manager and told it to look in the folder where this driver was. Windows picked it right up. I tested and it works fine. Also, the wireless drivers for the W4605 is on this page too. It looks to me like all of the hardware between the W4605 and the W4620 is the same, except for maybe faster processor and more memory.

Hope this helps.
