Powerbook G4 Starup problem!

Hi everyone, I am very new to this forum so please bare with me, sorry in advance!
A friend of mine has given me a G4 PowerBook laptop thst he had sitting in his wardrobe for a few years. I no nothing about apple. It didn't come with any cords, cables, books, manuals or anything, just tha laptop itself. I brought a power cord for it off the internet. it didn't work when my friend gave it top me so i presumed it was just had no power in the battery at all. After pluging it in, still nothing. No lights, no noices, no nothing. I have download the maunual for it and have tried the reset button, but still nothing. As i no nothing about the machines, does anyone know if there is something i shoulkd be doing that i'm not. Any feedback would be grrat. Thank you!

15inch Apple PowerBook G4
Model number M5884
400mhz/1mb Cache
128mb SDRAM/10GB HD/8Mb Video/DVD

If the PowerCord is plugged in and the computer isn't starting chances are there's a hardware problem.

all that downloading and research.... did u ask your friend whether it worked the last time he used it? seems like it was sitting in the warddrobe for so long for a reason. :S

Yeah i did ask him but he never used it himself either. Maybe i should just give up, throw it away!

Try pulling some ram out 1 stick or all sticks it sounds like you are SOL but that might bring it back from the dead.

when you push the battery amount button on the bottom does anything happen? (is it charging?)

Instead of throwing it away throw it on eBay (hey, that rhymed!) and someone can buy it for parts or something.

Yeah it would be nice if it worked. Just my luck though, should of known that it wouldn't work, nothing does when its free haha. Thanks for all the help!!
