Asus S96J successful installations of a linux based OS?

Thread Starter
A while ago there was a problem with dual booting Ubuntu and Windows, the mbr would not come out right and mess everything up. That was with a Ubuntu 6.xx version. Has anyone attempted one now? I'm concerned about ATI drivers etc. Is there any sources that talk about the S96J working?

Thanks

the asus s96j is relatively generic hardware so i see absolutely no reason why a well put together distro shouldn't work out of the box.

the ati drivers will be a pain. even if the distro offers them out of the box (sabayon) or a quick 3 click install (pclinuxos) ..their performance will kill your experience b/c you won't be able to go to hibernate/sleep modes (fault in the drivers that ati knows about, but is not on the priority list to get fixed).

so that said... give pclinuxos2007 a run....maybe even elive. you should be in good order.
