Yeah, it took significantly longer for HP to help me. You shouldnt complain. i got a dv5020us and the hard drive goes bad after nine months, right? so i call them and they were awesome, at first. they tell me, yeah, bad hard drive, but its under warranty and we are shipping you a new one tomorrow. so a week goes by, no hard drive. i start to get a little irritated.
now, i call back and they tell me, itll be here on this certain date. and i reply, oh yeah? that was yesterday, genius. where is my hard drive? so they stutter and cant tell me where it is or when it will arrive. ok, by this time i am not a happy camper. i called again. finally after the thirteenth call, and two weeks later, i finally talk to a supervisor who informs me that the hard drive my puter came with is out of stock and they have NO IDEA when it will be back in.
ok, so here i am with a really expensive paper weight and a lot of animosity and hate and discontent. i told him, and i kid you not, that is unacceptable and you better find a solution or im gonna talk to a states attorney about fraudulent promises regarding warranties. im sick of the run around and outright LIES. at this point he realizes im sick of being jerked around. i explained i have a job that this computer is essential to have for use at, and i use it at school too as i am a full time student, and its also my personal computer. so this will not do. under any circumstances and he better make it right.
so he tells me to hold on a sec, and then comes back about five minutes later while i sit stewing and fuming. so he says, how about we buy you a new laptop, same specs or a little better and have it next day shipped to you? i said depends on the hard drive, the shipping company and the place your buying it from. he says how about such and such a drive, from comp usa fedex'd next day to you? itll be there tomorrow if you want. i said ok. and what of the OEM? can i even send this thing in with the aftermarket? wont that void my warranty? he said no and keep the OEM one too when it comes, just make sure to mail back the old defective one.
so after three weeks where i was really busy and seriously needed my computer and them failing me, they finally got it right and got me my parts. and i did get two hard drives so i guess it was a break even situation. certainly not very good turn around time though. still pisses me off to think about it. but in fairness they did do right by me once i FINALLY talked to someone who knew his head from a hole in a ground.
