I have had my alienware laptop for almost three years now (will be three years in September) and my monitor has been flickering lately. It is still under warrenty (though, I can't say I have had the greatest experience with alienware tech support, though not entirely bad either) and I could call up tech support but I wanted to check here first and see if anyone else has had this problem. I did some research into it and I guess there is something like a light bulb inside the screen, and I guess mine is going. I had the graphics card replace last summer (took them a month to get me a new one, and they were supposed to give me a "forced" upgrade because they don't make my card anymore) but instead I got what looked like a used card puled out of an older machine. I could see the old glue marks from where the foil was attached to it and it definitely looked used, there was nothing new about it. I have a AGP card, and a month after I got my laptop, PCI Express came out. What really got my goat was that Alienware didn't even keep the parts in stock for my laptop. I have had to go to third party dealers to purchase any part I have needed, like a new ac adapter (they don't even carry those anymore, and my cord just broke right off). Well, anyway, that isn't what I am asking about. My screen is flickering, like someone is turning off a light. It sometimes just gets really dim or just goes black, but I can stil barely make out the desktop and if I plug into a external monitor i can see my desktop fine, so it isn't the graphics card. Has anyone had this happen to their laptop before?
