D510 XGA replace with SXGA Problem

Hi,

I'm proud to have a D510. But with XGA. Because I had bevore a C610 with SXGA, I rememberhow good this had been. Email, Writing, Editing Photos, gaming... everything was better.
So I tried to replace the Display.
First try I did with a SXGA from a D600. (still works there)
Result: Colors were wrong: instead of black there ist always a blue. And the resolution is incorrect. It is as if the Computer thinks there woudl be a 800' Resolution. I can overlay a Resolution of 1024 or 1400, but this makes it complet unreadeable. It looks like a 800' screen run on 1400' resolution.
It's no software problem, because booting is "blue", too.
And it seems that every third col is out of order while the second col shows some interpoled color. But forget the last sentence, this may be a result of the wrong resolution. ;-)

I tried a Bios Update (04 to 04), but without any change. Last week I bought a 2 Month old SXGA from a D510. This D510 crashed because his little daughter killed the mainboard (ouch!). Unfortunately she killed the Display cable, too. But the diisplay is okay.
The result was fully equal to the Display from the D600. Blue-black and resolution problem.

Does anybody has an Idea how to geht this thing working? This would make me very happy.
As far as I know there is only one display cable handling both display sizes.

Thanks a lot, Clemens

Did you check the connector on the MB to see if any of the pins were bent?

Hi,

i also have a d510, and want to put an SXGA+ screen in it. Original XGA screen is: Quanta QD15XL04 rev 03. I got an SXGA+ screen from an dell inspiron 5150. Only white ligth comes on it if i put it in the latitude d510. The model is: Samsung LTN150PG-L02 rev A00.
So what is think is , there are 2 possibilities:
1. The video adapter of the d510 is not capable of showingpicture in SXGA+ resolution. But even then, it could downgrade to XGA or something, because these screens also support XGA.
2. The revision number of the screens differ. I heard that diffrent revisions use different wiring. So are not compatible (it his is true, is another question). In this case, someone needs get theit hands on an SXGA+ screen with revision 03 and test it in the d510. Or some other revision might maybe work.

What revision did the screen of the D600 have?

There are no Pins bent.
I do not know which display exactly it is.
On the SXGA of the D510 there was a white Label "LTN141P4-L01".
I suspect that the Bios disables the SXGA-Mode. When i installed the SXGA, it seems that the Hardware made a 600x800 resolution. I can overlay a higher resolution with XP, but then it looks like a 1024resolution on a 600resolution-display. Only mud, nothing to see.
The Video card shoud be able to support both modes, that is standard today.
