Which would you choose?

Hi Everyone,

I'm purchasing my first laptop and it's come down to these two: Either the Toshiba A135 S4467, or the HP DV 2225 NR. I will be using it for basic home and office stuff, as well as I am starting up an internet shopping business. It will be traveling with me and I won't be playing any games, unless it happens to happen! But I'm not planning on it. I will be working with a lot of pictures and using basic Photoshop. The specs and prices are listed below for you for to see. What do you think?

I also am wondering about the instore warranty that they offer. It is $300.00 more, and includes a battery and plug when the need comes. The warrenty is good for three years. Do I need to purchase this or are the Toshiba and HP warrenties all I would need?

both machines will do what you want, any sort of serious gaming may be a stretch for them but for your basic tasks which it seems like you are focusing on i would say either will do what you need. overall the toshiba is a better performing machine. the core2duo processor is faster that the turion and the hard drive is larger.

as for the warranty, i am not a fan of the in store warranties from places like bestbuy. they can be very pushy with trying to sell you that but honestly they can be a huge pain. i know that both toshiba and hp offer the ability to extend the manufacturers warranty and if im not mistaken its even cheaper than what the retailers try to sell in store. the ones that are through the manufacturer will often work all over the world some in store warranties will only be valid in the country they are bought in. my recommendation is to get a 3 year warranty but do it through the manufacturer. i know i wouldnt want some kid who knows nothing about laptops poking around in either of mine.

Thank you, Fidget, for your reply. Would you say the same if I was to consider a simular HP as the above with the difference being 2 gigs of ram vs 1, and 160GB hard drive vs 120GB? Would you, or anyone else out there, recommend something different above and beyond the Toshiba within the same price range not to exceed $1200?

To tell you the truth. I would go with Dell and get a E1505 from them. You can get coupons of this forums or in Google for discounts on what you want and you can get more bang for your buck in my opinion.
