SATA issues

Hi!

Here's the question: how do you install WXP on a SATA HDD? The config is an ASUS MB M2N-E with a 64bit 3500+ and a Seagate 320 GB SATAII. With the IDE HDD everything is OK, but with the SATA HDD after the first reboot (the sis file copy part) it returns something like: "Error loading operating system". On the CD there is no option to create a SATA driver FDD only for the RAID controller.

Any help will be appreciated! Thanks!

Do you have a PATA (you mistakenly call it IDE) drive installed in the system with the SATA drive? If you do it could be the motherboard is set to boot from the PATA drive first. Generally it's in the boot options tab in BIOS to set which Hard Drive has priority.

I do have but the same thing happens even if the PATA is in or not. It has a boot order setting in the bios to choose which HDD to be the first to boot from and even in the quick boot menu I can select the SATA HDD and the same result.

Ooo... and an other thing... if I boot from the PATA HDD under win it doesn't allow to format the partitions on the SATA disk...partitions that were made and formated under win with disk managment.

OK problem solved!!!
In the BIOS ther was an option refering to the SATA acces mode. Instead of AUTO which was the default I'v set it to LARGE and everything works fine!
