Logitech headset won't work with Vista

I have a simple $20 headset...the kind that plugs into the little side port on the computer (don't know the exact name; its not USB). It has those 2 plugs - 1 for speaker 1 for mic.

Anyway, it won't work now that I've installed Vista.

My audio is working fine (I hear it when I unplug the headset) but when I plug the headset in the sound cuts off and nothing comes through the headset speaker.

It worked in XP.

Any idea?

Did you install the audio drivers for your computer of are you using the drivers loaded by Vista?
What are your computer specs?

When you plug in the headphones, open up volume control from the system tray and see what it is set to.

In Vista, the headphone and speaker outputs have been separated to give independent volumes for each, similar to what Creative does for their front panel headphone outputs.

The microphone part works (I'm using speech recognition) but the headset speakers don't work.
