I'm curious... the rubber screen protectors along the bottom of the keyboard. Do those get in the way at all when typing? I am considering an nw8440 and that's really my only concern.

After more review and discussion with owners, I went with an HP NC8430 and I'm very pleased with it. The screen protectors are in fact positioned so they do not interfere with typing at all since they are forward of your palms when typing. This in case anyone else asks this question. Congrats on your NX7400. These really are very good notebooks!
