Getting worried :-x

Thread Starter
I heard quite a bit (mostly bad) about Alienware's customer service. Well, so far not so good. I only have 2 real issues at the moment.

First, when I ordered my system I had to call my bank and have them clear my spending limit for this purchase (credit card hassle.). All seemed fine until I checked my banking account info. The total cost of my Alienware purchase was about $2700 and my bank set it up so that Alienware could debit my account for this amount. However, instead of debiting my account one time for $2700, Alienware debited my account over 3 consecutive days (first day $1k, 2nd day $2k, 3rd day remaining $700). On the third day, my bank flagged this as suspicious activity and declined the transaction. UhG!@ This delayed my order even further because my bank (who I also hold a bit responsible for this) did not notify me of this declined/suspicious activity until I called them to inquire about the decline of the transaction. (What is the point of flagging it as suspicious activity if you aren't going to call me and verify?) I then called Alienware and had them run the transaction again and PRESTO, it worked. Just for laughs, I asked the Alienware rep about the reasoning behind 3 seperate charges and got a bunch of double talk sprinkled in with many "ummms", "uhhhh", "let me check", "hrmmm..." Needless to say, it just may be one of those life mysteries that will forever go unsolved. I rank it right up there with the crop circles and bermuda triangle mysteries.

2nd issue, the stage 5 delay. Not sure what is going on but my machine has been in stage 5 (assembly/production) for over 1 week now. Not that big of a problem other than me being so impatient.
I mean seriously, it is like knowing what you are getting for christmas and having to wait a week or so to play with it!!!!

Hey --- theen3my!!!

I am in the same boat!!

I order my notebook from Alienware last week and the credit card company flagged it and so Alienware called me and i gave him my debit card number and it was instantly accepted. I think in that area the fault lies on the credit card companies but i don't blame them with all the fraud going on.

And just like you my computer has been in phase 5 for about a week now. And to top it off last saturday i get an email saying they are out fo the 1 GB Samsung Ram that i need so it says they will expect that to come in on the 15th!!! AAhhhrrgg!

I am the same i can't wait - it was hard enough just to actually order it online when i could have bought some lame HP in the stores here! But honestly who wants an HP when you can get an Alienware!!

I just hope it is all worth it when it arrives!! & I hope that i will be able to track the shippment when it actually ships so i can take work off that day and sit at home waiting it.

Are you getting your Phase information from reps or from the site? From what I've heard (and am currently experienceing) the site is almost always wrong. I ordered almost two weeks ago, had the same problem with the debit/credit. I asked to authorize the payment (I was using debit) at the bank..."You can use your card as a credit card too, and the limit is $5000 a day," said the bank rep I was taling to. WRONG. Alienware spent four days biling $1,000 a day (my debit limit).

The site says I'm at phase 2, but the rep told me I was in phase 4. I'm currently lagging behind work and school 'cause I'm so exited about getting my laptop!

Hand tight as Hammer says. I chose not to call up support while waiting for my lappy just because I read some of the other posts about how the phase site isn't wholly accurate and my phases would go from 3 to 6 then back to 5 and all of a sudden it was shipped and only updated the next day. This occurs a lot due to the fact that their site is not updated at night or on the weekends and a whole lot can happen when their site has not been updated.

If you think the phase game is nail biting just wait till your baby gets on the back of a fedex truck and you won't hear from it for days and it will magically appear at your door step only to be updated on the fedex site 2 days after you have already opened your beautiful alienhead box. It must be a lot like childbirth when ordering a system from alienware. But what do I know?

yeah hang in there...I guess Alienwares services vary...I had no problems what so ever with my order and everything was updated and on time.

I was having the same problem. My computer stayed on Phase 5 for about a week and a half, and on phase 6 for about the same amount of time. The site is right most of the time, but you'll probably want to call and check (although they're not much help a lot of the times). I was told they were having some compatibility problems with Windows Vista, but mine shipped yesterday so everything should be worked out by now. When you order with Alienware, just add about 2 weeks to the estimated ship date. Just hang in there, my computer jumped from phase 6 to phase 9 in one day, so you never know.

I just have to say that the only thing you can complain about is when you recieve your new computer and you all of a sudden find yourself with no more time to hang out with your friends because you are having an affair with Jessica (a.k.a. your new comp).

Any questions please call your local government official.
