Strange Display Problem, Is it the Video Card?

Hello,

i have a strange display problem on my laptop where small about horizental yellow lines appear on the screen and when u move windows around they cause everything to go yellow.

At first this problem only happened when in 32Bit Color Mode, simply switching to 16Bit Color fixed it.

Now its happening even at 16bit color mode so i have to fix it.

My Laptop is a Dell XPS Gen 2, Centrino 2.1, 1GB Ram, 17" 1920x1200 Screen, 80GB IDE HD, NVIDIA 6800 Ultra 256

The strange part is that this problem still happens when you connect an external Monitor either by VGA or DVI, u still get those lines on the external monitor.

Is it the video card? i really cant figure this one out.

If it is the video card, i can replace it myself, but where do i buy a replacement?

Attached Screenshot of problem. Another strange thing is that the artifacts appear when taking a screenshot, which should mean that it really not the monitor, right?

Why don't you boot up in safe mode and see if the problem is still there. As a last resort before you replace your video card, do a fresh install and see if the problem persist. I highly doubt it's the vid card.
