it cant be solderd back toghther cause the cable is the one that goes from LCD to motherboard the grey one, its very thin wiring and its burned . Im in Computer Enginering Technology the best i can say its a new cable is needed. I just dont see why the company cannot send me the cable they didnt have to be rude to me. I have the user manual and know exactly which one i need and where it is.

Try e-mailing Clevos directly and see if they can help.

ok

Can someone please post his contact information, and I will, and I WOULD REALLY like to talk to him, even if its just for the cable i wont be rude since its not his fault at all.

Here http://www.clevo.com.tw/contact/default.asp and good luck. Just so you know it's not just sager that won't sell you a single cable. HP/Compaq, Ibm, etc generaly won't sell just a cable. most times you gotta either send it in or buy the replacement display as a whole unit.

!!!!!

its bull**** i know the reasoning behind it but **** im a student just sell me the ****n part. it would be cheaper for sure then sending it in, let alone down time. Ill try my best for gettin it, im gona take it out soon and compare the serials on it n stuff try to find an exact match. What do u mean replacement unit ? a whole new laptop, or if they cant fix it ?

tnak you

I emailed all of those places and got in contact with them, that is where that email i posted came from

Well then, it appears as if you are a "tree'd racoon" and will have to send the unit to a service center for repair. Sad as it is, this is probably the "reality" of the situation and you will not be able to change it.

?

i dont wana send and shouldnt have to, this is terrible and if i do have to send it im NEVER supporting this company again, not that they would care of anything, but really how hard is it for them to send a cable, or someone out there with a parts laptop to send me one ?

nothing

I cant belive it they totally ignored me and now im laptop less, im never buyin a laptop off these people again, worse company ever once ur warrenty expires
post #16 of 21
Take your laptop apart get all the part numbers you can find, manufacturers etc, and start calling and emailing the manufacturers. I feel your pain but policy is policy. No other manufacturer has done that for years. Get over it and move on. Either live with it or find other sources to get parts from. Simple choice.

ok

easy for you to say, not the one with no money and no laptop. thanks for ur help, im sure if the company tought it through to help out customers in real need they would know, either way never again from these people will i purchase anything. id rather pay 200$ and get it from a respectable company not a bunch of amatures.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but when a warranty expires, your service can and generally will go down the hill. I moved to Sager because a similar thing happenned with me and Dell Computer Corporation. Now it's frustrating, hard, and tough, but once your box or book is out of warranty, it's an ironclad bizzitch to get anything fixed or done about it. I'm sorry to hear that you're unhappy with Sager's performance with your out-of-warranty equipment, but Dell, Gateway and Toshiba will all do exactly the same thing, if not worse, with their service staff once something goes out of its warranty period.

damn

That is terrible that any company would treat someone like this, but atleast with dell or toshiba or any name brand company it will be easy to "locate" this part right now its a bizatch to get and im a student with no money, my school requires a laptop, and next time i do get one ill for sure ill be getting from a trust worthy company or atleast one where parts will be easily avaiable. Its not that i want them to fix it, its that i just want them to send me the part and they refuse to do it cause they wana make 200$ for puting in a lcd cable its rediculus I learn my lesson and these basterds can rott in hell.

I'd call PROSTAR - That is what the model indicates and try whining rather than be rude to see if you can get it repaired for a lesser amount or get another cable. The cable, which may not be produced anymore, may require that it be "salvaged" from another unit and require the "depot" to absorb some costs that are not evident to you.

Biggest lession that you should have learned from this experience is that you should buy extended warranty for laptops (not just Clevos/Sager Units - but all types) that would cover you for the period that you believe that the configuration will be retained and deemed "vital".

As a last thought, the "fried" cable may be the result of something else that went bad and it you replaced it, it could once again "fry". You really, at this point, have two options: 1). Return it and get it repaired or 2). "Cut Bait". I suspect in either case, you are priming yourself for an ulcer. If the unit is still "valuable" to you and it's value is well over $200, then I would say that the decision is academic.

Added Edit: One last thought - take it to your local "friendly" computer repair facility and see what they estimate the cost to repair it would be.

Good luck....
