MacBook Pro/chipset

With the supposed release of the Santa Rosa chipset in March will Apple come out with a SR based MacBook Pro sooner rather than later? I hear that there are some nice features to SR (other than just a speed increase). I presume there will be a delay in Apple putting a Pro with Santa Rosa

Next tuesday Apple is holding a special event and it's possible new MacBook Pros will be introduced, however, anything at this point is just speculation.

Im also hoping as much as the next guy but will MacOS X even take advantage of the new features of the santa rosa platform? Mainly the flash memory on the board...A FSB increase is nice and all and the wireless N on the board..sure but the new macbooks and pro already have that...should be interesting...I think that the advantages and features of the 45 nm process chips and chipsets is where its at!

Not sure i can wait for the 45nm processors, end of 2007 or in 2008? For me if Santa Rosa allows for greater than 3Gb of RAM that would be a great benefit. Also would be nice if there was an upgrade in graphics chip. I run video/photo editing apps as well as a 3d app so more memory the better. Aperture is a RAM and graphics hog.

Also I here Apple may introduce LED screens. Not sure how these will be for accurate color and tone reproduction.

I wouldn't hold your breath guys, remeber how long it took apple to stuff c2d in the macbooks? I wouldn't be surprised if apple doesn't even touch santa rosa. They may just wait for 45nm and then go from there. as seen before apple usually doesn't buy into upgrades unless they see a good profit in it.

I think you may be right on this. Even if other notebook makers do adopt Santa Rosa, Apple probably think that there are enough reasons to buy a Mac (like two OS support, their own apps etc) However I would like to get beyond the 3Gb max ram.

If they don't go with Santa Rosa , i may be tempted to get a cheap notebook PC in the interim to take care of my on-the-road needs.
