PPL waitin to get vista because of bugs.

I was just thinking about all of the people saying that they are going to wait a few months for another build of Vista to get all the bugs worked out and the such....

Well wouldn't you get the Service packs free even if you buy Vista right now? So if you purchased it now and got to play around with it, you'd still get the bugs worked out the same as if you waited months to buy it? I just didn't understand these thoughts....

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Software needs to catch up. My steaming music service is not compatible with Vista Ultimate that I got for my desktop. My tv locks up as well. That is beta software. Drivers also need to be better. I will let it sit for about six months. I did not waste money on it.

That's exactly what i'm talking about. How is it wasting your money if in 6 months or so, assuming it's all "caught up" how are you wasting your money??? You get to play around with it for the time being? That's what I don't understand.

I dual boot it with XP. That is the only way for now. I would hate to be stuck with it on a new notebook though. What about older sofware. You would be stuck.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, just dual boot it and walla, I missed the cutoff on getting vista from the factory, so I was shipped out with xp home, and was just going to dual boot with vista, I just didn't quite understand the whole logic behind wasting your money, if in the end you'd end up buying it anyways.

And i was just making sure that Microsoft for some insane reason, was making it that you had to purchase newer updates or something crazy like that, because that's the way ppl make it sound when they say that they're going to wait to buy it...

???shrug???

It's not a matter of money. I would rather my OS of choice be as bug-free as possible. Since XP is relatively bug-free, and Vista is still very buggy, I am using XP until Vista becomes more reliable.

although if you get the upgrade you can't use the copy of xp you upgraded from... but i'll just have to use a copy from my msdna at lest 1 of the 10 free copies i get eill be put to use :P

i have to laugh on that one setting that aside, Microsoft did just release its new Virtual PC software, whihc is free. so you wouldnt necessarily be stuck with Vista-only, you could create a virtual machine and intsal l XP or older (or linux or something else) in it and run the programs not compatbile with Vista in it. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...c/default.mspx im dual booting XP and Vista as well, but using mainly Vista. havent run into any programs not really compatible with it, and only a couple of my odder accessories dont have drivers. other than that I havent had any problems with Vista (except for a problem thats been happening in XP as well, so its not a Vista-specific one)

rel·a·tive·ly (rěl'ə-tĭv-lē) Pronunciation Key adv. In a relative manner; in comparison with something else: a relatively minor problem.
