Does Notebook Hardware Control NHC work with Vista and are there other programs that will keep the CPU at max under Vista?

No, it doesnt work on Vista...

Ive been checking their forums and the creator said a Vista compatible release would be brought out...but the fourm has gone very quiet and there hasnt been a version update since September, so I would look for another piece of software.

From what I have found, the CPU is ALWAYS at max in Vista anyway, unless the you are running on battery, where it downclocks to 1GHz...

I'll be damned.. just ran CPU-Z and mine does stay at 100% full speed all the time..
no wonder the fans run more often in Vista than in XP..

I am waiting on my upgrade from Toshiba for my notebook. However, I have 2 desktops with Vista. The one with a cpu/ram gadget does not show either core at full all the time. I have seen it peak from time to time. The other pc has a single core older P4 and it also does not spend most of it's time@ 100% either.

**I need to correct myself. My P4 does spend a significant time @100%. It seems like it wasn't like that right after install, but I don't use it much anymore. However the dual core I haven't seen that high yet. I haven't used it enough to tax it yet.**

my 9300 doesn't run at high all the time. I can change it via the power/battery icon. Click on it, and it gives you 3 modes. Always low, always high, or mixed.

Search for and download the latest version of RMClock. It does function under Vista now and gives you voltage and clockspeed controls. I used it for a bit a couple days ago, but haven't really dug into it too deeply. Check it out! I don't have a link for it off hand but its out there guys.

NHC will have a Vista release very soon. The guys over there are working hard to make it compatible, but Vista is throwing many wrenches in the gears for them. The fellow that writes the software does it on his own free time, and usually without compensation so it will be done whenever it gets done lol.

Also, I heard rumors that the RivaTuner program may pick back up again soon... there are a lot of people pestering him about writing the new code, and of course there is no solid timeframe for a release. It just seems that he is taking a break from it for a while before stepping back up to the plate again. Keep your eyes peeled in the future for a RivaTuner comeback!
