Keys on laptop not working sometimes

Thread Starter
I don't remember the specific model name but my laptop is about two and half years old with 2gig pentium m 15 inch monitor 1 gig ram. Recently a few of my keys have sudenly stopped working for maybe 10 seconds and then working again. They seem to be e d s keys, none of the others seem to do this. It doesn't seem to be a problem with the actual keys since they press in and work most of the time. However, this happens about once per minute so it's very frustrating. If anyone has some sugestions or has had this problem before please help me out.

I have an almost identical problem but with the space bar and r, v keys. I had it on the same laptop about 12 months ago and cured it using a Registry fix application from PC Tools. The same problem has now reoccurred but i can't seem to fix it this time. Did you solve your problem in the end?

I've not had keyboard problems like that, even on old keyboards, but those letters get used more frequently than most so I would suspect that something has gotten worn out in 2 years. As to what exactly, I have no idea. That sounds like an annoying problem.

I plugged in an external keyboard and all the keys worked fine so it was a hardware problem after all. I disconnected the laptop keyboard, cleaned the terminals on the ribbon cable, reconnected and all ok now. Cheers
