Hypersonic CX6

Thread Starter
I just notice that they release the Aviator CX6 today. It comes in standard silver with no options for automotive paint. Some of the accessories available to other laptop are not available for the CX6. I also notice that there's no shipping charge for me. Is this an error or a promotion? Any input on this CX6?

it's the mitac 8050, gamepc and hyperdata also sell the same ODM design... but cx6's price is actually not bad...

I saw it last night.

Yeah, so did I. According to the website you CAN get it painted by special request.

Its seems kinda cheap, maxed out minus the 2gb RAM option its still pretty cheap.
Yeah, definitely cheaper than voodoo's version (m:370) and voodoo sells it with the 9600. Hypersonic's has the 9700. I am seriously considering this machine.

This is the laptop I have been waiting for, and it's available from a reputable reseller.

This is my first laptop and I was wondering if getting the 3 year warranty is worth the money. Having put together multiple desktops I am very familiar with troubleshooting and replacing(very rarely) parts with those systems. Inherently there is less that can be "replaced" with a laptop should something malfunction. My biggest concern is the motherboard, GPU, and CPU. With a desktop if any of these components fails it does not cost too much money or time to fix. I have never had a desktop motherboard, GPU, or CPU fail despite aggresive air-cooled overclocking. How prone to failure are laptop components?

The three year warranty is not a accidental damage policy like Dell's so there is one less benefit of an extended warranty. Also, is only difference between the DEPOT and platinum warranties is the hours technical support is available?

One last thing, is the No Dead Pixel guarantee a worthwhile expendature?

LDRunner-
Yes, the only difference between the depot and platinum is the hours of technical support available.
As far as the dead pixel guarantee, Hypersonic already guarantees no dead pixels in the center of the screen and no more than one dead pixel elsewhere on the screen for FREE. If you want zero dead pixels guaranteed, it's $49. So, it just depends if you can live with up to one dead pixel or not.
For the warranty, you have equal numbers of people who like extended warranties and who don't. The piece of mind is nice, if you can afford it.

Does anyone know for sure if the 855GME chipset is compatible with PC3200 memory? It can be configured with PC3200 ram at Hypersonic and GamePC. Also, will the Dell Wifi card work with this laptop?

Nope, nothing. Guess it's a sign that I shouldn't buy that laptop anyways.

Im getting in just fine without any problems. I too am really enthralled by this notebook.

I just got off the phone with Hypersonic and it will cost and extra $549 to paint this notebook. Seems high, considering that all of their other notebooks cost $299-$399 for the normal paintjob. Even the color shifting paintjob doesn't cost $549.
I really wanted the paintjob, but not for that much. I think I will wait until the ABS version of this notebook (Mayhem G2) comes out in a week or two. Then I will compare prices/specs and make a decision.
Paint wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I bought a Voodoo for the paint job and I had to send it back cause the paint job sucked.

What is the deal with...

- "User-Upgradeable Intel Pentium® M Processor"
- Intel® Pentium® M Supports Dothan"

Does this mean that this is the first appearance of the new Dothan processor I've been waiting for? I've been waiting too damn long for the next gen Centrino to hit the market...is it here yet?
It's just upgradable to the 400MHz Dothans. But currently it sports a Banias.

No problems here. Works fine.
