Hypersonic CX6 - Page 4

*Performs a Jedi Mind trick on LDrunner*

You don't need a widescreen laptop, what is lost in .4" is gained in SXGA+ resolutions.

Price is rising like a barrel of crude!! Atleast the turn around time has gone from 4-6 weeks to 14-18 days. I guess that justifies the price increase, NOT
prolly due to memory. Memory prices went totalllllly up. desktop and latop recently. Kinda sucks...I was gonna upgrade my desktop...

Hypersonic cx6

I do mostly graphic/illustrative work in the film industry and am looking at this laptop primarily because of the ATI radeon 9600 and the size/weight (my primary applications will probably be Photoshop/painter/maya/battlefield vietnam ahem, work comes first though). My other option is that Apple power pc selling for 2600, but hd is only 4200 rpm and both ram slots filled to get 512. The max res is pretty much teh same (1280 x 8something), so i'm figuring this might be an optimal purchase... the other option is a dell inspiron 8600 because of higher res factors, but it's a little bulky for my tastes (and costs quite a bit more). So all in all, i'm looking for something that has a good mobility to it, like that apple powerpc, but more bang for teh buck as well.

I'm also thinking of ordering it without an OS so i can just install my copy (save 100 bux) - i'm sure they'll give me the additional drivers for the cd/dvd rom and such, right???? retarded question really, but not certain.

I really like the idea that i can trick this system to get something way way way better than what large companies can deck out, for less the cost/full customibility (dell is priced higher cuz they got that weird "we'll give you a free camera" deal and what not).

do you guys think this is a good platform for my kind of work? i've done so much research now that my head's gonna explode...

If you want bang for the buck, check out Powernotebooks.com PowerPro M5:6. Granted I can't personally vouch for the company's quality but their resellerratings are great...and because of that I am considering this over Hypersonic's CX6. Honestly, the only thing that would switch me back is a price drop in the CX6 from Hypersonic, if they upgrade their screen to WSXGA+, or if their version of the Voodoo M860 is really well priced!

The Hypersonic CX6 just when down $40 from yesterday 4/4/04

Hehe, I mean like 200-300 dollar price drop as that is the difference between powernotebooks.com and Hypersonic. Another annoying thing about Hypersonic is since I live in NY state if I do the legit thing and have it sent to me, 8.25% tax !

So I would have to ship it out of New York and have a family member bring it to me whenever they are visiting...or I can just order from Powernotebooks.com and not have to worry about tax at all .

Get a tax exempt form from your friends/relatives working for a school or other educational institution. Pretend that it's the legit thing to do.

Hey, guys sorry for bringing back this thread but the Hypersonic CX6 recently has jumped into my pool of laptop selections. Actually it consists of the Asus M6N and this laptop here. So did you guys get the laptop, any reviews on it anywhere? Pros, cons? Anything at all?

Also can I get it anywhere else other then Hypersonic-pc.com?

Well that does look like a great notebook but Resellerratings has other thoughts on the site. Take a look, if the link doesn't take you directly there then search for the site yourself.

So did anyone actually get this laptop yet, any reviews anywhere at all? Any resellers that are selling it for a faster shipment?

5.05 is not good i admit, but its only from 50 total opinions

like i said, i talked two 2 different people on different occasions, they seemed to know their stuff, although they were only sales reps, havent talked to customer support

and i really could care less about warranties, unless hardware breaks which is rare, i owned quite a few laptops with no problems ever, maybe im just lucky

http://cgi2.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAP...ernetishop-com their ebay rating is excellent tho

When is the ETA for the laptop Cruzilla?
I am due to deploy to Iraq (the whole reason for this system in the first place) on or around the 15 of May, I called and talked to them and tried to get them to put a rush on it, he said I was at the end of the line, but he would upgrade the shiping to overnight air for free. He said that I mite get it by the 14th or so, he said to call back in two weeks. I think he was yanking my chain, but I will call back and see around the 5th.
Well good luck Iraq. I don't think you will get your system by then though. I mean I read a few user reviews of hypersonic at resellerrating.com and a lot of them said that if you need rush shipping theyll just offer the next day air but you won't get the laptop for around 3-4 weeks. My guess is you will get the laptop around the week after you depart or maybe even 2 weeks after.

That sucks, But I can allways have it shipped to my new Army address. (whatever that is??)
