Ugh. I'm still in phase 6.
This blows. I'm really starting to get upset with how long this is taking them. My order status hasn't moved in almost 2 weeks. I called the 1800 number today, and they said I was still in phase 6. Then when I told him that the price of the 5790 has dropped on the Alienware website, I asked if I'm entitled to a refund, and then he put me on hold for 8 minutes and said that I have a $100 refund, but if I want the refund, it will delay my order by about 3-4 days. Of course, I don't really understand how that works, so I just say "Oh...kayyy." I accept it anyway, cause it's my $100.
Then I ask him about changing my shipping method to 2nd day air, rather than the standard ground shipping. Faithful Mitchel then says "No, I'm sorry, we don't offer anything like that." Then I had to tell him that it's offered on the Alienware website, at which point I was put on hold again for a few minutes. Mitchel comes back and says something like this (I'm gonna have to paraphrase, cause he speaks too fast, and his English isn't very good) "Yes sir, we do offer that option, but it's only on select hardware" (At this point I'm already thinking about some of the other members here that have had their 5790's changed to 2nd day air, and not to mention the fact that it's offered on the website.) He goes on to say that he will submit my order to be approved, and I should call back in 48 hours to find out if my system is elligible for 2nd day air.
I haven't really had any quarrals with their phone support yet. They've been very nice, and often apologetic for having to put me on hold for a few minutes (which is entirely acceptable). But delaying my order for 3-4 days for a refund? How does crediting my credit card at all delay the production process? And why would they even tell me that I have to be 'approved' for 2nd day air shipping, when it is one of the shipping options on the website? I'm trying to keep my cool, but some of the stuff I was told today, just doesn't seem like a good way to do business.
