Hey. Ok so I sold my 9300 on ebay and It's time for an upgarde. I'm just curious how long the battery lasts in the M1710. Does the gtx card suck down the battery or do you get the same battery life with gs card? Not really going to be gaming on battery just school and work garbage. Also, does anybody know where I can find coupon codes that work? I found one for dell outlet that is supposed to be good till March 1st but it doesn't work. Thanks everyone.

I would think its not really a matter of what card (btw the 7900gs and 7900gtx) you use...its a matter of what voltage its running and what clocks its using on battery...the gtx and gs (stock) use the same voltage/clocks on throttle and 2d, the two levels you would be using on battery...i have neither card though so i cannot tell you 100%

I kind of disagree. There is a difference in the amount of RAM of the 2 cards, which can't be discounted. There's quite a bit of voltage that goes through RAM chips, so I wouldn't be surprised if the battery was eaten off quicker by the extra 256 megs of the GTX cards. At the same time, any card you overclock will require more power; however, when in battery only mode, they all generally revert to 1 volt operation, which means they essentially function at the same speed. Hence, the extra RAM of the GTX "could" make a difference.

From what I've seen, ATI X1400, 7900GS or GTX all differ by 5-10 mins. The big difference is between any of those and integrated. That difference is ~1.5 hours....

i get about 3+ hours with a 7900gtx

m1710 with 7950 I get 3.5 + hours using the default nvidia powermizer settings.
