What is the best cooler for the m9700 and the one that keeps it the coolest? I already went through one video card and don't want to chance that again. was looking at that spire pacific breeze ones but looks like that would be way to small. Please let me know cause want to get one soon.

I've heard good things about the pacific breeze. I just prop the back up about an inch and that works good enough

hmm, heard good things about it too, just after seeing the dimentions it made me second guess cause it is sooo small. think that it would make the laptop teeter on it.

I use a COolermaster notepal. I use electrical tape around my eject button and the back hangs over about an inch but it sits on it realy nicly and it helps cool it i guess. here is a link

Another vote for the Zalman notebook cooler. The design of this cooler means it doesn't matter where your fans underneath are positioned, as it pushes air to the whole area of the notebook. Well worth your cash. (should be able to get it for around $50.)

good thread as I think I want to pick up a decent cooler for mine as well. Probably going to do an extensive search tonight. Will be back with what I come up with.

Thanks for your replys, they have been very helpful. Think i will try both, the spire and the zalman. spire for traveling and the zalman for home use. probably nuts for getting both lol the zalman looks more practicle and way better design than most i have seen but the spire is rather intrigueing and want to see what that little thing can do for myself. If the spire stinks, then I will resell it.

Thanks again for your help.

After doing a bit of searching it looks like the Zalman is the way to go. And it has a really nice design along with silver going well with the stock silver color of my m9700.

Probably order one tomorrow and when it comes in I'll let you all know what the difference is in running temperatures.

You looked at the VANTEC LapCool2 Notebook Coolers. I have one and it works pretty good. It is about an inch shorter then the Zalman though. Just another option.

It has an optional power cord if you wish, but it will run just fine without it.

ya, i have seen those vantec ones before. Have noticed that a lot of people go for them. I am not to fond of them but probably does the job. I looked at the dimentions of that zalman and looks like it will still hang off the sides and no lip to keep it from sliding but does have that rubber grip. but still could slide if bumped wrong, i would think. wonder how well it will stay in a car seat lol. I am going to travel soon and don't want to get a mount but need a hard surface for it to sit on without sliding (a.k.a. hitting breaks and go flying to the floor). Would anyone know what option I could use for that?

Here is the newegg one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubCategory=319

here is the official Zalman site http://www.zalman.co.kr/usa/product/...x=224&code=030
It is the same thing that they show for the U.S. site.

Looks to be a really good candidate for the m9700.

hmm i think ill *cough*company*cough* will be buying a couple of those

I changed my mind. Go for blow fan-based ones.

I'm hoping that Zalman will come out with a version that is slightly wider - I have a 7700 (well not right now, it's in for repair #4 :P) and its feet underneath just barely fit on the cooler. I actually have to support one of the feet with an extra bit of rubber that I've fashioned for that purpose.

However, all the fan positions actually sit above the '671 cooling holes' (no I didn't count them, it says this on the box :P) and it does seem to keep the 7700 (which is a notoriously hot running machine) a decent amount cooler than usual.

I'm using the Zalman cooler at the moment but I don't know if it makes much difference. As stated above the holes are below the intakes for the m9700.
