My Toshiba power supply was lost, but I have access to a bunch of used ones of various brands. Assuming I can get one with a similar connector, how do I determine which is the best to use based on voltage and amps? If the Toshiba takes a 15v, 5a power supply, how much can the replacement vary from the required? Someone told me the amps can't vary more than .5 up or down, then I read somewhere that volts and amps should never be less than the required. I'm pretty confused and don't know much more than the basics about power (watts=volts X amps).

I want to make sure I understand what can fry the computer or the power supply, in plain, straightforward terms. Thanks!
