Try those hard drive manufacturers diagnostic utilities to determine if your HD is faulty...

how do i go about doing this?

Well you first start by determining who manufactured your hard disk...seagate, western digital, fujitsu, samsung or hitachi

You then go to the manufacturer's website and download the appropriate diagnostic tool...

Just find out your HD manufacturer and i'll link you to the utility

That's strange. I had the same problem after I restored from a full drive backup. I restored from a Ghost image - which ran fine even after I rebooted a couple of time. After I booted from a linux disc and restored a full drive backup (from an external drive) and overwrote the Ghost image restoration, it was still find and dandy, but after the first reboot I would get the error. When I reformatted and restored from Ghost image again but didn't restore my drive backup, it would run fine (I'm running off the Ghost image restoration).

I got this error message (along with some others) about a month ago and it turned out to be a bad RAM module.
