I have read wikipedia, but i am still uncertain of what i should look for in the laptop i will buy.

Is ExpressCard the future and CardBus the past?

Assuming that most laptops have ExpressCard, is there any point in getting a laptop that has older types such as Type I/II/III or whatever its called?

For example:
This laptop has ExpressCard 54

Where this one has:
ExpressCard (doesnt mention 54 or 34), CardBus and Type I/TypeII ...how on earth does it fit all that there?

Express Card will be replacing PCMCIA cards AKA Card bus, some laptops have both on opposite sides of the laptop, the slot isnt used as much anymore, it was used mostly for wireless internet cards, now pretty much the only thing you can put in there that your laptop doesn't already have is 6 pin fire wire and fire wire 800, or WWAN (wireless internet that works like a cell phone where its anywhere but with a monthly bill) The express card does come in two sizes though, but are both somewhat the same, the 34 can fit in both a 34 and 54 slot while the 54 wil only fit in a 54 slot, the only notebook Ive seen that actually has a 34 slot is the Macbook Pro, every other laptop Ive seen (like mine) has a 54 slot, I use mine to store my bluetooth media remote, and soon they are coming out with an external GPU that plugs into that slot for some graphic muscle, hope this helps!
