I just got an email form MODUSLINK that had a order number, so, I checked the website, and it seems like they shipped me another Vista Home Premium DVD Today June 1st, 2007..........I already had 2 Vista DVD's already from them, looks like I'll be getting a 3rd one too.........LOL.........but here's the kicker?
I don't have anymore Gateway's to put this on? one is on my old 7405GX, and the other one is on my MX6447, I saw a MX6453 for $599.00 HERE: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...723&CatId=1897
as this is VERY TEMPTING (You have this model don't you?)........can't make up my mind , just may buy this MX6453? what do you think?

Yep, that's my unit. Personally, I have no problems with it except I miss the audio controls that used to reside near the top of the keypad. Now they are integrated into the keys as I think I might have mentioned before. And the easy access email, buttons are missed too. But I hvae more RAM and HD and a dual core AMD processor, not mad at all. I was watching Dell's segment via HSN or something this past weekend. They are just now showing the exact same specs (or very similiar) as mine but you get all this software, more TS and a customized designed covering for the outer casing. It ran around $1900. I laughed b/c all I paid for was a new 3/4 year warranty.

Anyhow, I want to envy you. I can't get one copy of Vista... still nothing as yet... Lastly, I was able to play more in WMC with heaps of music just loaded on here. Man, I love the titling, organizing and queing. It has it's ups and downs but it's real neat now that I have loads more music to work with. Talk to you later!!

Oh, Good luck on the unit if you do decide to get it. I Googled 'mx 6453', guess what... this thread was #1. AHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Yeah, Right Now I'm VERY Disenchanted with GATEWAY, I don't think I'm gonna buy one EVER AGAIN..........I think it's worth it to spend more Money, and get something I really like (Dedicated Video, NOT SHARED) and I really hate the fact that most notebooks just aren't very upgradable but then AGAIN, buying a notebook for 2K or more that's not upgradable makes me CRINGE!!!, but, Hey YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!! in Today's market place I'll be a HAPPY CAMPER when somone comes out with a upgradable Notebook, but, that day just never seems to come?

hey does anyone know anything about the problem where you laptop wont shuts down, it only can be restarted or putting on hibernation, but every time i try to shut down i end up with the black screen but the hard drive apparently keeps working. i have checked up all the drivers but i dont get an error from any of them, i know it has to be a driver issue cause when i go to the safe mode i can perfectly turn off my computer.

i have a MX6428 AMD turion 64 mobile 2G CPU, 1giga RAM, 80G HDD, ATI radeon express m200 128MG shared video memory.

Are you runniig XP or Vista? have you tried to adjust that by going into the Power Management settings (try clicking on the default settings) to see if that stop that problem? or you can set up your own power scam....... If your running VISTA HOME PREMIUM I'd get another 1 GB stick of RAM, it will GREATLY Improve your performace in VISTA's system memory 1 GB is fine for XP, but is considered the BARE MIN for running Vista...............
im running vista ultimate, and it works just fine despite the 1g RAM since the upgrade for the BIOS make my video of 128Mg(and i know it's shared with the RAM), but it works fine for me i can use all the visual effects, the only problem is when i shut it down. as i told you device manager doesnt give any driver conflict, butn when i use the safe mode i shut down the computer without trouble.

thanks anyway man.

Guess what was in yesterday's mail, the 18th Denb? Yep, you guessed it 2 DVD's, Vista and then the drivers.... CD too. And there's the install booklet which does state that you can upgrade Vista over XP in case you need to revert back to XP for ..... reasons.

So is this how all of yours came as well?? And what does 2 roll-up mean on this particular Gateway? If you don't know what I am referencing, let me get some winks and I'll fill you in later on today. At the latest... early tomorrow.

See yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
Glad you got it..........did you know that you can also do a "Clean Install of Vista" and even tho it says "For Gateway PC's" you can use this on another PC if you like, yep, it's the (Real Thing) it's actually a Vista Home Premium Full OEM Version, and NOT just a Restore DVD

Yeah, I was posting that info for people who did not know, ya know. And I thnk I did read that it could be used on non-Gateway/E-machines, yep. Well, funny thing is... I am going to wait a good while before I use it. I have so many prgrams that I already know will not work with Vista like American Greetings 8. I know the company no longer exists and the program is like "a huge diamond ring" but I love using it. Plus to get the lappy ready for Vista seems like it is going to take awhile before these companies make patches for their hard/software. So.... we' shall see. I am glad it's here... finally.

Now, onwards about the non-upgradeable laptops... You can upgrade RAM and HD's right? Explain what you mean as you know this is my first one. Thanks to YOU!!

You Have a 5400RPM 120GB or a 160GB HD that's fast enuff for what you wanna do on the notebook, 2GB of DDR2 is enuff for running XP or Vista, so your fine there, why don't you do, what I did, I bought a Notebook Harddrive Cover (Caddy) that's made for the Gateway MX64XX Model notebooks and I had a Spare Harddrive so, I put XP PRO on that, and I have Vista Ultimate on the other on, so, whenever I want to play with XP PRO, all I have to do is Slide-out-the-Caddy, and insert another one in and use whatever OS I want, I found the HD Caddy on ebay for 12 bucks, and it works & Fits like a charm, I like that better than doing the Dual Boot OS Thing if you do get another notebook Hardrive and you feel like doing the same as I have, I can give you the Guy that sells them HERE: http://cgi.ebay.com/Gateway-MX6000-L...QQcmdZViewItem

Ok, me lost. I don't have spare hard rive for a laptop. So this would not work for me unless I did... right?? And no, I know what I have is enough for Vista. What I'm asking is, IF, I wanted to upgrade the HD or RAM in the future, can I? And is there anything I can upgrade on my unit besides those 2 things?? If so, what?? As you can tell I just bought it to say I had one and convience if and when I travel.

I'm Sorry for the confusion, (I get a little head-of-myself sometimes) Hard Drive (adding 7200PRM Notebook HD), but they only come as big as 100GB, you can go up to 4GB of DDR2 System RAM even tho Gateway says the limit is only 2GB, but, they are DEAD WRONG, right now you have 2GB, but, Vista 32bit won't read the full 4GB of System Ram, but a 64Bit Version of Vista will show the whole 4GB, you can Upgrade your Duo Core AMD x2 up to a 2.6 Gig TL-60 Proc, (Right now you have a 1.6Gig TL-52 Proc) (That's all the Upgrade Options) you have on your MX6453, which aint to sabby

We have two MX6446 Gateway laptops. I messed around and never sent the receipts in to get the free Vista upgrade, truthfully I forgot to much going on. I had forgot about ordering free Vista upgrade. Well went to mailbox sat. and 2 vista upgrades was in there, installed on one laptop and runs better than XP. We upgraded the ram to 2 gigs. on both with GeeDom memory off e-bay 38.00 a gig a couple of months ago and runs great.
