Apple Store prices

Thread Starter
I am looking to get my first ever Mac, a white macbook. If i decide not to purchase it online I will be buying it from the Apple Store in Birmingham.

What I would like to know is are the prices the same in the shops as online? and also are they prepared to lower the price a little to make the sale? How much have you been able to get off a mac from a store?

Thanks.

i bought mine at the macstore and it's the same price as online. I don't think they can lower prices to make a sale though, i didn't try but it doesn't seem like they would do that.

Most Diriect from Manufacturer computer stores dont gives salesmen the ability to lower prices. Dell kiosks have "Closing tools" its a 5% off or something like that, that they can tack on if they sucsessfuly upsale you to a comp over $X,XXX or if they attach something with a high proffit margin (Such as Antivirus) or get you to put the purchace on credit. Long story short, its never just a price drop, you end up paying for "coupons" or "Closing tools" in one way or another.
