Red tint at bootup on T22 SXGA+ display

Does anyone else have a laptop which seems to have a red tint when booting up but goes away within like 10 seconds? I know its a sign of the display going bad but does anyone know how long until the whole display turns red?

This talks about it but doesn't necessarily say how long I have until I have to replace the display.

Replace the backlight will do fine. It is cheaper than replacing the whole display... How many years have you been using that thinkpad?
