vista card reader drivers travelmate 8100

Hi,

So I installed vista on my travelmate 8104 and the only thing I haven't manage to get working is the card reader.
I have tried the drivers from the acer website in the "TracelMate8100 Vista Update" package (among others) and it seems to not work..

In fact, when I plug my SD card there is a little sound but the card does not appear with all my other drives. There is also a little sound when I unplug the SD card.

So do I miss something? where am I suppose to look for the card?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

See if it appears in your Device Manager - it may give you a warning about the device not being loaded correctly.

Everything seems fine in the device manager. No warning, that's why I'm even more confused

Open computer management and see if the drive shows up there. It might have to be set active.

Did you ever get the card reader working? I can not get it working with Vista Ultimate with EITHER of my laptops (see sig).

On both laptops, I formatted the drive and did a clean install. I can not Vista to "see" the hardware that is my built in card reader.

Any ideas?

There are drivers on Acer site but I NEVER manage to get much luck with them:

the only positive sign is that i manage to get read access using old XP drivers for "Base System Device"
