You've got the upgrades pretty much maxed out there, so not much more you could do. I'm sure that config would be excellent for just about anything you throw at it. Could even be overkill in fact (not that I'm saying there IS such a thing :P )

Yeah, you have most everything maxed out. All I would suggest is upgrade the optical drive - get a DVD burner. Even if you already have another PC with one, it's always a good idea to have one on a laptop just in case.

Also, which games are you planning on playing? The m5790 is an amazing machine (from what I've heard) but, while the Radeon 1900 is a good graphics card, it isn't going to give you as much gaming power as some other alineware laptops (like the m9700).

like World of warcraft and such games ... online games cod 2 - bf - lord of the rings online

I'm fairly sure it can handle WoW fantastically. As for CoD2 and BF, it should play them too, but I don't know how well (though undoubtably, it will be great). I haven't seen any benchmarking of the m5790 yet, so I can't be sure how it will do.

I'll be doing a full review with benchmarking in COD2, BF2, and several other games as soon as I get mine next week.

The x1900 should destroy cod2 and do very, very well in bf2 as well.

people are talking about m9700 i didnt get it cause it is amd turion but they say that m9750 will come out and it will be intel core 2 duo ... that seems pretty awsome no ? and m9700 was choosen the best gaming notebook if im not wrong ... ?

Oh yeah. If I could wait, I would definitely hold out a couple of months for the m9750 to come out. The m9700 was chosen best gaming notebook because that's what it's mainly for. If you'll be using your notebook primarily for gaming, then, if you can’t wait for the m9750, I’d get the m9700. However, if you're going to be using your notebook for lots of multitasking and general use, the m5790 is a better choice, I think - though, by all accounts, the m9700 is still a strong platform and by no means a light weight (in the performance department)…

@ Low Ki

I can't wait to see it. I'm very curious to see how it does compared to the other Alienware notebooks.

I will also pist pics of my 5790 when I get it next week.

It should ship out this week, and it'll probably arrive next week sometime. Just a few days before spring break. I'll have 2 whole weeks to waste on it before I have to start using it for work and what not.

I'll post pics and benchmarks.

''if you're going to be using your notebook for lots of multitasking and general use'' what do you mean KAREL747... multitaskin ?
I mean like having tons of things going on at the same time. For example, playing music/video, surfing the internet with lots of tabs, playing a game, office software, image editing, and several folders open all at the same time. A Core 2 Duo will do you more benifit than a single core processor. An ML-44 (on the m9700) is also good, but not nearly as good as the Core 2 Duo for lots of multitasking.

The m9700/m9750 laptops are quite a bit more expensive than the 5790, and they both pack a lot more graphics power if you get SLI. Though the m9700 uses a single core turion processor, games are all about the video cards so it's not a problem currently. In the future games will take advantage of dual core processors, so if you want the ultimate in gaming laptops the m9700 is it right now, until the m9750 comes out...

The m5790 with an x1900 will perform about the same in games as an m9700 with a single 7900gs from what I've read.

Basically don't get a 9700 unless your going to take the advantage of SLI?

@PiggysPizza

Pretty much...If you're not going to wait for the m9750, and you're not going to use SLI, there isn't really any reason to get the m9700.

Well...

It's still going to be a great performer with a single vid card, but the 5790 with the x1900 looks like it'll outperform a single card m9700, but a 5790 with an x1800 won't.

You always will have the option of adding a second card with the m9700 though, and that will kick the 5790 in the butt in games no matter what card the 5790 has.
