4750 - Replace Battary Work?

Hey guys,

I have a Sager 4750 (2 years old) and I think the battary is on the verge of dieing. When I unplug the AC, it stays on for like 3minute then it shuts off. I remember in the beginning the laptop had at least 40 - 1hr of battary time, now its less then 5minutes. Sometimes the laptop would just turn off while plugged and to make it work again (random), I would have to unplug and replug the ac adapter to get the unit to boot up again. Would a new battary fix this problem or is my Sager just dieing slowly but surely?

Any reputable sources where I can buy a replacement battary? Thanks

Can't really help you as I don't know where to buy batteries for this thing or anything, but figured I could throw in my experience with the 4750 battery:

When brand new, my 4750 could get around 1:45 battery life, almost enough to watch a full-length movie. By the time it was a year old, the battery would only last ~45 minutes. Now, at about 2 years old, sometimes the battery discharges *while plugged in.* Randomly the little battery light will turn orange, indicating charging, despite never having unplugged it.

So, I thought of buying a new battery, but realized I don't use it away from the plug enough to justify the cost, if it is only going to last me less than a year.

Thanks for the reply, good to know that I'm not the only one experiencing the same problem. I probably won't be using it portable too but since i just bought a new Desktop I figured why not have a laptop that can run at least an hr or two, incase I want to watch or browse around the house.

This clearly indicates that one or more legs of the socket for ac adapter
came unsoldered from the motherboard. You could try to solder it again
but it seems to be not very trivial. My D4750 is 2.5 years old; the battery
died 3--4 month ago and the socket came unsoldered completely.
I've tried to solder it again (without removing the proc) but failed
to get stable soldering. The ad hoc solution I use is to insert
a piece of hard eraser between notebook's cover and
the socket so that the socket becomes tightly pressed to the motherboard.
I have now no battery at all, but this solution works for me more or less satisfactorily.
Sometimes the contact gets lost and I am to readjust the contact and
to restart the notebook, but this happens rarely enough.
