As many of you, I'm a true Sony fan and lover. My first notebook was a purple 505! It rocked!
Well, I come from a 17 inches Satellite P35, that had Harmann Kardon speakers (trully amazing! Sounded like a Hi-Fi system). It's 17 inches screen got a problem recently and I was already interested in buying a new, cooler notebook... So the screen issue was the perfect reason to burn some money on a new baby. The new Vaio AR was my choice. (without Blue-ray).
Unfortunatelly, the first time I put some MP3 to play, I realised that this so-called top class notebook from Sony had a 100x inferior speaker quality than my old Toshiba.
To be honest, the speakers of my AR sounds like CRAP. I bet that many AM-FM radios out there are better-sounding than it. To make it even worse, they've bundled an Audio FX filter with some weird compressors that trashes any music you play. Even with it turned off, the compressor sensation seems to be perpetuated by the crappy speakers.
Any other AR owners out there to comment and express opinions about it?
Anyway, I'm trying to live happy with it as it will be my everyday tool for the next 2 years or so.

p.s. the touchpad buttons position also sucks. I can not use the notebook on the bed anymore... Not to mention the one-piece lid latch.
