cpu upgrade a135-s2246

ok i just purchased this laptop for $350 bucks after rebate from office depot. i planned on buying this and right away getting a gig of ram and then later on getting a core duo to put in it. i have been trying to figure out the best cpu i can upgrade to and i cant figure it out anywhere. it has a celeron m 430 1.73 with a 533mhz fsb right now. i know there are core duo like the t2050 and t2060 that i believe will work in it but is there any other processor that will also work? do i need to get a 533fsb cpu? or will a 667fsb cpu work? it has the ati 200m chipset in it btw. here is a link to the same laptop http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satell.../dp/B000M8YUGA

As has been mentioned on here countless times, when upgrading CPU's, you are restricted to CPU's with the same socket pattern, which is normally the largest CPU offered in that model and also, which is supported by the same BIOS

Apparently Celeron M 430 is based on Core Solo architecture. Upgrading to a Core processor might be feasible. You wouldn't notice much of a difference in performance but you would gain SpeedStep technology.

Well obviously if you upgrade to a dual core system, there will be a significant performance difference. If you can figure out how to take apart the system, yes a Core Duo upgrade is possible, even maybe Core 2 Duo but that is dependent on the BIOS support. All of them have the same socket.

im pretty sure a core duo would work but im not sure if a core 2 would work. do i need to stick with the same fsb as the celeron that is in there right now? 533fsb? im thinking thats the limiting factor. since the t2250 and the t2050 have 533fsb. and the core 2's have 667fsb. i have seen ati 200m chipsets with core duo but i cant find any with core 2 duo cpus so im thinking its incompatible. I have found a few core duo processors on ebay for around $60 bucks so i think that would be a pretty good upgrade. guess ill hafta just wait it out and find a cheap core duo on ebay. is there anyway i can find out what cpu's my bios supports? Thanks guys

If you have a A135 series, they should support Core Duo just fine. Check Toshibas website to be sure, but there are many A135s with Core Duos in them.

well i just bought a t2250 on ebay for $72 bucks. im about 90% sure its going to work but im wondering if a core 2 duo would work and i STILL cannot find any information on this. ive yet to see a notebook with the ati 200m and a core 2 duo. i dont think it would work. so damn complicated someone should make a chart.

If you go to Toshiba under the A135 product specs, you should be able to go between models with the Celeron and the 2250 processor and also check the driver downloads BIOS in particular and see if it shares the same one. Its a little work on your part, but it can be done. Just on a side note, I hope you realize that trying to change the CPU will void any warranty
