Anyone have this notebook? I saw it at CompUSA and they seem to be having a great deal on it....this is the best deal I have seen on a PC notebook...it has a DVD +/- burnger, 802.11g built in wireless, 60GB hd, and 512 MB RAM expandable to 2GB.....and it is selling for like 1499 after 100 buck rebate....I would only need to call Toshiba for their international warranty. How is Toshiba's service? Do they make pretty good laptops? THis is a P4, but suposedly the battery life is still pretty good. Anyone with this model? Does it have any heating problems? Are you pretty satisfied? Wow...15 inch screen and everythign! This is a great deal that lasts til June and IF I get a PC notebook, I may get this one.....any input appreciated!

The cooling on those models like the P25's is awesome they have several fans and run so quietly you cannot hear them (as opposed to several other manufacturers).

You already know to get the toshiba warranty versus compusa if you need it pony up for the (forget what its called exactly) the accidental damage coverage that includes screen replacements.

Toshiba doesn't exactly make their laptops anymore they just supply specs to 3rd party but they do (usually) do a pretty decent job of the engineering/planning.

Toshiba's service depends on the people doing the servicing there are some people with some horror stories. Be particularly aware that any kind of water spillage onto the keyboard portion of the machine could caue you a lot of grief with the servicing.

Who's got one to supply more detail?

Toshiba's are excellent value for the money. The build quality is VERY good. I've owned a P25-S477 (still do) and I have used the M-35 series as well. Their speakers (Harman Kardon) are excellent and the units feel SOLID!! The LCD's are also very good...havent seen a single dead pixel on 5 Toshi's that I have used so far...

Also....does it have a built in mic? I hear that most laptops come with a built in mic, but I am not sure about this one. In fact, I did not know this was so common anyway...

Maybe I have missed out but I am unaware of any/many laptops coming with a built in microphone. I have a (like 20 buck) nice set of stereo headphones that comes with a microphone it works much better than a built in mic would anyway.

I've seen some that do, including toshiba's, but I'm not sure how common it is for
laptops having a built-in mic. Presonally I recommend an external anyway because the laptop speakers are usually located a little too close to the mic and the sound quality is better.

Actually, I'm pleasantly surprised with the mic on my Dell. Record using MS OneNote and you'll see what i mean.

Sounds like an excellent computer and a good deal, but to tell you the truth, if you're willing to wait, you can probably get a better deal. I'm pretty stoked on Circuit City right now - they just mailed me $300 in rebates for a computer that goes for $1050 or something, the very basic Toshiba model (A45-S120). That's not including the $50 from Toshiba themselves. Well, okay, that was a very rare deal, and they're no longer doing it, but at the very least, check them out.

Oh, and I've heard very good things about Toshiba.

NOT 100% satisfied with a45 s250

Well, I got a a45 s250 and the machine itself is well built, solid, etc, but it came with a dead pixel and I am getting a very annoying noise when running on batteries. I am NOT 100% satisfied as I would like to be with this pc.I advise you to check if there are no dead pixels on the lcd and listen carefully to it when using batteries power before you buy.The noise is really high pitched and therefore very annoying.
