Compare Inspiron 1150 and Inspiron 6400 (E1505) screens

Thread Starter
I am currently using a 3year old inspiron 1150 which has a 14" 1024x768 screen. The viewing angle on this is awful. Unless I sit just right in perfect light, everthing gets washed out.

I am looking to buy an Inspiron 6400 but have been told that the viewing angle on the regular WXGA screen (1280x800) is not so great either.

My question is really aimed at someone who can directly compare the two, is the viewing angle any better with the newer machine, or would I be better off looking at another make alltogether. (Getting the WSXGA is not an option for me)

Thanks

I have the same system that you are looking to buy, and I would have to say the more you spend on it the better it gets. I got a Wide Screen Ultrasharp SXGA+ Display with Truelife and I have 1680x1050 resolution and it looks wonderful.

From experience... my brother has the i1150 and I agree the viewing angles are shocking. But although the viewing angles on the WXGA in the i6400 are not as good as the more expensive WSXGA+, WUXGA, etc options.... it is still a lot better than the screen in the i1150, so you should be more happy with it! FYI Dell uses fairly standard WXGA panels that you would find similar in many different manufacturer models with the same screen option on the market...
