Late Q1, looks doubtful as there hasn't been any leaked info yet.
Early Q2 maybe, but supposedly those chips won't be the high end ones.

It's the big news in the lap top world.

This puts many (including myself) into the house of wait. Buy now and in 6 months you'll be frustrated.

If they're saying Q2 that means June, Dell gets the 1 month exclusive (July), which means August for everyone else. And then we don't even know if the 8800 will be out. It may be the mainstream 8400 or 8600 you find in HPs.

That could be a very long house of wait just to play Crysis on high detail. Decisions, Decisions.

That game is going to be a full blown assault on us notebook gamers. Look at sinking 4K in a notebook to get anywhere close to Full Detail settings. and still maybe not there.. Dual Quad Core with a "8900 GTX" SLI on a desktop would be the way to play this game

yeah because developers use non-existent hardware to run thier software

just by making an educated guess crysis will run at max settings (and at a high resolution 1600x1200 at least) with at most an 8800gtx and quadcore (possibly overclocked dual core)

and you won't need SLI because the devs didn't use SLI, SLI drivers suck in vista (they used vista so they could have DX10)

don't forget that this game will be playable with older hardware (not at max settings) but it will still look nice (farcry looked pretty with mid range hardware)

Completely true in terms of how Crysis will look on a DX9 system. If you have a decent DX9 graphics cards. Let us say you have at least a 7900gt then you will easily be able to play Crysis at pretty high settings minus the supposed DX10 fancy pants shadows and lighting effects of which I currently don't even use anti-aliiasing with my alienware m9700 which has dual nvidia go 9700gs'. I can play every game at max settings without a hitch even Oblivion which is just amazing. Haven't tried Flight Simulator X yet but pretty certain it would kick my computer's ass since I've read that even dual 8800GTX's aren't able to play it at max settings without lag.

For at least the next year dx9 is going to continue to be the norm and dx10 to tbe the abnorm. 2008 is going to bring about a very large change in the graphic interface forum and we will need to either put up or shut up as they say. I know I am willing to wait.
