inspiron 1000 - Battery problem

Thread Starter
As you may know, from the other thread I poste not too long ago, I've been restoring a water damaged laptop. Previously, on first tests, I was running from just the power cable, and as such, had not tested the battery as it was assumed dead. After getting past the fan troubles, I decided it was time to charge the battery and try it off that. I charged it over night (The green battery light came on, and in the morning it was flashing on and off slowly, I think to say the battery was full), and when I tried turning it on from the battery only nothing happened. And when I tried from both the battery and the power cord, it froze at the f2/f12 screen.

Is this is a circuit or a battery problem? Would replacing the battery solve this problem or not, as I don't want to spend unnecessary money.

Many thanks!

I am having the same problem with mine, but there was no water damage involved, to the best of my knowledge.

Remove the battery and it works just fine.

My question is this:
Is the battery shot, or is there a problem with the board?
